I drive a 1996 Chevy S-10 truck with over 200,000 miles on it and a year or so ago made the switch to Royal Purple 5W-30 motor oil. I've been more than satisfied with the results and because of this I've been wanting to change my automatic transmission fluid over to Royal Purple for quite sometime.
Usually in auto parts stores, Royal Purple Max ATF runs about $13-$15/qt. However I found a case of it here on Amazon.com for an unbelieveable price, and even got free shipping with my order! I knew I needed a full case because I wanted to flush all of the old fluid out of my tranny and have soley Royal Purple inside. I found a lube change shop that would do this for me and even cut me a break on the cost of the procedure since I was supplying the fluid. I was told that usually they flush 14 quarts of fluid through a transmission to do the job, but would do it with the 12 quarts in the box. In their words, "it worked beautifully!"
So far, I've been more than pleased with the results. My transmission seems a bit more responsive now, much like my engine did when I switched to Royal Purple's motor oil. I also occasionally tow a utility trailer and I'm looking forward to the extra protection this synthetic lubricant will provide against heat buildup.
Next up, Royal Purple gear oil in my front and rear differentials!

Most modern power steering systems use ATF fluid now. My wife's dodge caravan's power steering pump went out and I flushed the system and replaced the pump with a remanufactured one and used mopar ATF+4 fluid which was what was used at the factory, I assume. I fully bled the system and it worked great for about a week then started grinding. I bled the system again and it still had a grind. I then flushed the system again and bled it and it worked fine for about a week then started to grind again, by this time I was fed up. I was recommended by a friend who was a manager at NAPA to try Royal Purple ATF fluid as that is what they had a lot of clients use for power steering problems. It was pricey though at $15 a quart (I think I overpaid though). I bought 3 quarts and flushed the system again, but this time with the Royal Purple. I bled the system and It was noticeably different from the Mopar ATF+4 fluid. The power steering felt like a brand new vehicles' and took hardly any time to bleed the air out (a couple of turns of the wheel). It has since been a little over 6 months since the change out and not even a whine from the power steering system and it still feels great. I have been completely amazed by the Royal Purple as I thought all fluids were the same, now I want to use Royal Purple for all the fluids in the vehicle, its just the price that keeps me from doing it right now, but it was a cheap fix for the power steering problem at $45.

The information doesn't specify that it is the royal purple max atf MULTI-SPEC, which is formulated for many vehicles. I have an Acura, which uses ATF-Z1, max atf multi spec is fully compatible. [...]. It is a great product.

Want peace of mind? Use this fluid. In my cars, I installed after-market transmission pans with extra capacity, cooling fins, and drain plugs. Look into Mag Hytec pans. Plan on doing heavy duty work? Hauling? Towing? Imagine sitting at idle in stop & go traffic. I've also installed aftermarket transmission coolers with their own built-in electric fans. Amazon carries B&M, Derale, & Flex-A-Lite. Keep an eye on that ATF dipstick, and change the fluid as needed. For those of us that believe you can't do too much maintenance or "over change" your fluids, then draining the pan once a year and topping off with 5-8 quarts is perfect. Royal Purple is a great product. It ranks right up there with Red Line, Mobil 1, and Lucas Oil.

I thought all ATF was the same. However, I found out that my car (Misubishi Lancer), required "Diamond SP III ATF." Royal Purple Max ATF was the ONLY ATF that I could use for my car. This stuff is a little on the expensive side, but well worth it! You can't beat this price anywhere. Highly recommended!
